Board of Governors
Each year the membership of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter elects eight new professionals on a 16-member rotating Board of Governors to represent the Southeast community. While best known for The EMMY® Awards and Silver Circle, which recognize outstanding achievements in our industry, NATAS Southeast represents an array of other exciting events available to our membership.
The Southeast Chapter is in search of people who are as passionate about television as they are about giving back to the professional community. The Board of Governors is a working board, which simply put, means we work together collaboratively to ensure we are providing for the best interests of the membership.
Qualifications and Requirements of a Board of Governor
1. Must be a NATAS Southeast Professional Member for a minimum of one year prior to election.
2. As a non-profit organization we will rely on your ability to tap into your talents and/or resources to bring educational programs, events and sponsors to NATAS Southeast.
3. Active committee participation prior to nomination is recommended.
4. Attend a minimum of one board meeting per month.
5. Attend a minimum of four to six NATAS events per year.
6. Board term lasts for two years.
7. Lead and/or judge at least one EMMY® Award category twice yearly.
To be considered by the selection committee, the following must be submitted to natasadmin@natassoutheast.tv by February 28th:
1. A 50 word bio on career overview stating background and accomplishments.
2. A 50 word paragraph to be submitted stating why you want to join the board.
3. Resume
Events hosted throughout the year have varied from an intimate gathering with authors such as Stephen J. Cannell to a behind the scenes look at the making of a hit show, Tyler Perry's House of Payne. Professional development programs are equally important in that they not only develop industry skills, but offer exceptional networking opportunities, both internally and by partnering with other professional organizations.
NATAS Southeast reaches out to students by hosting a Student Connection Day, while also provide mentoring to both students and young professionals alike.
While serving on the board, you will actively participate by chairing or co-chairing at least one of the following committees:
National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast represents the best and the brightest in our industry, and serving on the Board of Governors is a unique opportunity to ensure a healthy future for this chapter.
